Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Metal Polisher on behalf of one of the leading chrome platers and metal finishing companies in Great Britain. They have been operating over 20 years now and the management team alone have over 80 years experience between them.
The industries they serve in include hotel refurbishment, electrical, plumbing, architectural, medical, shopfitting & display products, classic vehicle and public. They offer a range of finishes including Chrome, Nickel, Gold, Satin, Incalux and Antique Gold.
As the Metal Polisher, you will Polish and repair various metal components such as bathroom/kitchen taps, shower components, medical instruments, door furniture, marine parts, classic car parts, including bumpers to a high standard, leaving them smooth, shiny and defect-free using hand tools, welder and polishing lathes.
This is a permanent role based at their site in Crayford. It is working Monday to Thursday, 40 hours per week. The working hours are 7am – 5:30pm. The salary is paying anywhere between £30k – £40k per annum however, can be negotiable for the right person. Perks include overtime, pension, 22.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays etc
Responsibilities:
* Polish and repair various metal components such as bathroom/kitchen taps, shower components, medical instruments, door furniture, marine parts, classic car parts, including bumpers to a high standard, leaving them smooth, shiny and defect-free using hand tools, welder and polishing lathes.
* Prepare metal surfaces for the plating process to ensure optimal adhesion of plating.
* Inspect finished products for imperfections, such as scratches, dents, uneven finish and re-work accordingly.
* Maintain all tools and equipment ensuring they are in good working order at all times.
* Ensure Pre-use machine and extraction checks are completed and recorded daily.
* Adhere to Company Health & Safety and maintain a clean, safe workshop.
* Work closely and communicate with other departments and team members to ensure seamless production and high quality output at all times.
* Ensure adequate stock of belts etc.
Skills & Attributes
* Previous experience in a similar role.
* Able to polish, weld and undertake various repairs on brass, copper, stainless steel and metal parts in various conditions.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* An excellent understanding of Health and Safety.
* The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
* An eye for detail and a desire to work to a very high standard.
