Job summary We are appointing a whole-time Consultant in Adult Inherited Metabolic Disease (AIMD) to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The service is based at The Northern General Hospital and The Royal Hallamshire Hospital, and currently cares for over 500 patients covering Yorkshire, the East Midlands and Lincolnshire. The service is part of South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology, a partnership which fully integrates pathology services across the South Yorkshire ICB including Barnsley Hospital, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield Children's, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trusts. Main duties of the job The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team, be responsible for providing a comprehensive Adult Inherited Metabolic Disease (AIMD) service. This will include IMD clinics, including transition clinics; MDT meetings; providing advice and guidance on the management of patients; clinical governance activities and participation in the Consultant on-call rota. This post itself is an inherited metabolic disease post but with broader contribution to the clinical chemistry service, a personalised job plan may be considereddepending on the successful applicant's skills, experience and preferences and the needs of the department. Examples of wider activity undertaken by the existing adult inherited metabolic disease consultants include clinical chemistry laboratory support, Duty Biochemist sessions, trace metal reporting and Lipid Clinic work.
