As the Facilities Engineer, you will be the subject matter lead for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment operations and troubleshooting at Johnson Matthey’s Hydrogen Technology Fuel Cells facility in Swindon.
The Facilities Engineer ensures the ongoing maintenance and operations of Manufacturing & Facilities, including stand-by diesel generators, related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems including but not limited to switchgear, UPSs, chillers, cooling, air handlers and associated systems, pumps and motors.
Demonstrating a strong sense of ownership, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for working with the Facilities and Maintenance Departments’ OEMs and service providers to oversee the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment on site, supervising contractors and driving continuous improvement while maintaining high levels of reliability and performance.
Your responsibilities:
1. Supervise, advise and consult with Engineering Contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
2. Assist in performing root cause analysis for Facilities on operational issues
3. Perform periodic on-site assessments and audits of operations electrical systems, including Test & inspection of all Electrical distribution system on site and new install of machinery
4. Supervise the design and implementation of retrofits of existing facilities
5. Develop PPMs for in-house PV panel maintenance and electrical distribution system
6. Learn production machinery operation and support shift engineers on site with fault diagnosis
Requirements for the role:
1. Experience supervising Contractors
2. Experience in Electrical and Mechanical installations in commercial and industrial buildings
3. Ability to read, follow and understand both electrical and mechanical drawings
4. Inspection and Testing experience
5. Experience in fault finding within a “Live” environment
6. NVQ or City & Guilds in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
