Post Title: Technician (Strategy & Testing)
Location: Diriebught Roads Depot, Inverness
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £30,266 - £33,579 per annum
Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose: To work within the Materials Laboratory Team for the Project Design Unit both in the Laboratory and on construction sites, etc. throughout the Highland Council Area.

Requirements
* NC/HNC Civil Engineering, or equivalent in a science/engineering related subject, or equivalent experience in an equivalent technical role.
* Previous experience of working in a testing laboratory, preferably a construction materials testing laboratory.
* Experience of working with a quality management system.
* Good all round technical and administrative skills.
* General IT skills with MS Office software, digital media, smart phones etc.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative appropriately.
* Awareness of Health and Safety at work requirements.
* Knowledge of Technical Specifications, Design Standards and Codes of Practice would be an advantage.
* Experience of sampling and testing construction materials.
Given the rural nature of the area covered by this post, the post holder may be required to have a valid driving licence to enable them to carry out their duties.
