Heightside House is a nursing home in Rawtenstall and we are looking for a full-time maintenance person.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for someone with the right mix of skills and passion to ensure that our service environment is kept well maintained and safe. As the maintenance person, you’ll take pride in the environment that you maintain. You’ll be responsible for basic repair and maintenance, including some decorating.
You’ll work alongside other team members who are passionate about providing a safe and homely environment, as well as warmth and kindness to all those who live and work in our service.
We are looking for someone to approach the role with an element of flexibility, and to work through the maintenance lists prepared in advance, and also deal with more urgent requirements.
Principal accountability / role activity:
* To ensure the outside of the building and grounds are maintained to a safe and excellent standard of repair.
* To assist with carrying out routine repairs and monitoring of systems. Liaise with the home manager / Estates manager in respect of any issues or concerns that may arise.
* To record: Fire, Emergency lighting, nurse call systems, COSHH checks alongside a record of room redecoration.
* Ensure maintenance records are compliant with company and legislative requirements.
* To maintain accurate records of all service contracts, dates, and all inspections.
* To ensure that tools and equipment are maintained and stored safely.
* To provide telephone / emergency support to the home out of hours.
* To keep accessible gutters, pathways, and drainage points clear.
* To repair fixtures and fittings where possible and liaise with specialists as necessary.
* To maintain internal decoration to a high standard.
* To support the home manager with any other duties that are needed to ensure the health and wellbeing of our residents.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar maintenance role and will have strong practical skills. You’ll be comfortable in a care setting, with the ability to relate to our residents in a caring, respectful and sensitive manner. Confident working on your own initiative, and with a positive attitude and good communication skills, you’ll prioritise your work schedules to meet the needs of the homes and their residents and be committed to providing a well-maintained environment for everyone who lives and works in the home.
