About The Role:
A successful and prominent international architecture practice that boasts a strong portfolio of award-winning projects is looking for a Studio Director to lead their Birmingham office. This position requires a passionate and business-savvy architect who has the confidence to run a studio and drive business growth.
As the Studio Director, you will report to the board whilst collaborating with the wider offices, and will be responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and commercial aspects of the Birmingham practice. You will play a pivotal role in winning new work in the UK, specifically the Midlands, managing client relations and strategising with the board on company growth and driving commercial success. In addition, you will be required to manage the team, studio projects and ensure the seamless running of the studio.
This role would suit someone who has at least 10 years of architecture experience, who either has previously run a small studio, or someone who has strong people management skills and proven work winning experience that is looking for their next step running a studio. Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the strategic growth and direction of the studio
2. Work-winning and business development, securing new projects and fostering client relationships
3. Oversee project delivery, ensuring design quality and technical excellence across all work
4. Act as a key figure in client engagement and industry networking to expand the practice’s influence
5. Mentor and inspire a talented team, fostering a collaborative and ambitious work environment
6. Drive financial and operational performance, ensuring sustainable growth
7. Work with the board on budgets, strategy and growth initiatives
Key Skills/Requirements:
1. Qualified architect with 10+ years’ experience
2. Strong knowledge of the Birmingham/Midlands region
3. Organised and process driven
4. Commercially and financially astute
