Maintenance Operative Team Leader and Fire Door Inspector
Position Overview
The Maintenance Operative Team Leader & Fire Door Inspector will be employed on work that is appropriate to their core and specialist skills. They will, however, be expected to have and acquire elements of other skills which will enable them to work flexibly across trades.
Suitable training will be given when required to ensure competency to achieve the skills and ability where required.
This is a role based in HMS Drake Plymouth.
Responsibilities
* Excellent communication skills.
* To organise works and loads.
* Setting strategies as well giving direction and guidance.
* Monitoring progress and solving problems.
* Provide a multi-skilled maintenance service, which covers Building & Civils disciplines.
* Provide a reactive and pro-active maintenance service.
* Carry out weekly & monthly planned maintenance tasks as scheduled.
* Ensure that work is carried out to a high standard and in line with current company policies and procedures.
* Provide a service that ensures all Building & Civils equipment is running to optimum performance.
* Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators are met.
* Maximise availability of all Building & Civils equipment through continuous improvement.
* Take ownership of tools and equipment provided and ensure maintained to an appropriate standard, reporting any defects immediately.
* Responsible for ensuring own work is completed in a safe and diligent manner to ensure regular feedback on issues arising before, during and following activities that are carried out.
* Maintain equipment supported by sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills, raising issues as required to your line Manager.
* Complete any required paperwork, produce reports accurately and on a timely basis.
* Complete training and development activities as required in order to remain competent in role.
* Complete other duties as required and directed by your line manager.
* To complete and assist Fire Door inspections in accordance with Planned Maintenance Schedule. (training will be provided)
* To undertake minor repairs to Fire Doors.
* Flexibility in work hours to provide cover if required for holidays and sickness absence.
* To be first line response in carrying out reactive repairs, minor building repairs and decorating tasks.
Knowledge Skills & Experience
* Completed a craft apprenticeship in a building trade.
* Good understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and its application within role.
* Experience in diagnosis and resolution of defects.
* Experience in maintaining building fabric.
* Experience of building maintenance duties.
* Must hold a full UK driver's license.
* To have or able to obtain PASMA certificate and MEWP.
* Good problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions.
* Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written communication.
