An exciting new opportunity to join the Targeted Youth Support Service at Oxfordshire County Council contributing to young people’s positive social and emotional development.
About us
The team works closely as part of the wider Youth Development Offer supporting colleagues with the delivery of our schools, community, and detached programmes. You will work with young people in one-to-one meetings and group work, as well as work within local communities. You will also work with colleagues at the Council and externally to look at the current needs of young people and the best responses to deliver positive outcomes for them.
The successful candidate will work with a variety of young people as you use your expertise for young people’s engagement and intervention activities.
About the role
1. Working closely as part of the Targeted Youth Support Service, you will provide a key role in the delivery of our schools, community and detached programmes. This will consist of one to ones and group work with young people as well as working closely within local communities and across sectors. You will work in partnership with colleagues both internally and externally to look at current needs of young people and the most appropriate responses to deliver positive outcomes together.
2. You will strengthen collaborative links within schools and local communities to achieve joint outcomes
3. Deliver creative, targeted programmes of support to young people at risk and advocate for them where appropriate.
4. To ensure that timely guidance and interventions are in place to support the social and emotional development of young people in line with council thresholds
5. To work alongside our Locality Community Support Service, Family Help, Youth Justice and Exploitation, Family Solutions teams and contribute to a young person’s support plan where required.

About you
We are seeking a youth worker, who is a well-organised, enthusiastic and motivated individual to deliver an innovative range of targeted youth-focused services across the County of Oxfordshire. Working within a team of dedicated youth and support workers, this role involves working alongside young people during times of difficulty. Activity will include youth session delivery in schools and communities, detached work and 1-2-1 work with young people to set deadlines.
You will contribute to the Council’s strategy to support vulnerable children and families. To do this you will have experience of working with young people; advocating on behalf of young people as well as attending multi-agency meetings to plan the best possible outcomes for the young people we work with.
