Cramond Playgroup is currently seeking a Deputy Lead Practitioner to work alongside our experienced Playgroup Lead. We are a long-established, successful, and much-loved community-run playgroup, offering a fun, caring, and stimulating environment for children aged 2–5. Operated by a team of dedicated staff and a parent-led committee, we are a registered charity based at the well-equipped Cramond Kirk halls.
The role is for 25 hours per week during term time, comprising 20 hours of in-session work (typically 8:30am–12:30pm, Monday to Friday), and 5 hours of administrative duties. The playgroup follows Edinburgh City Council term dates, with limited admin hours required during holidays.
Working as part of a supportive team of six staff, the successful candidate will play an important role in delivering the Curriculum for Excellence, supporting the wellbeing and development of each child, and helping to lead the staff team. They will also take full responsibility for the daily running of the playgroup in the manager's absence which in the first instance will be 1 morning per week. They will also be responsible for certain administrative roles such as invoicing and reporting on the Learning Journal platform.
We are looking for a qualified Early Years Practitioner who:
-Holds, or is working towards, SVQ Level 4 (or equivalent), with the ability to achieve full qualification within 5 years.
- Has experience in a childcare setting (managerial experience desirable).
-Demonstrates strong administrative, communication, and IT skills.
-Shows warmth, professionalism, and a genuine passion for early years care.
