Job Description:
The M25 is one of our flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network, seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and is a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, requiring high levels of performance, constant improvement, and repairs to keep it operating smoothly.
We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to widen, operate, and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to deliver project objectives with respect to the six key areas of performance: Health & Safety, Quality, Cost, Environment, Delivery, and People.
We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a strong project background to join this fast-paced team to deliver complex highways schemes throughout their whole project lifecycle. Schemes range in value from £20k to £4m+. This role will also involve direct line management of project managers, assistant project managers, and early careers, ensuring the successful delivery of the programme of works on time and to budget.
Responsibilities / Duties:
* Stakeholder Management - Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Portfolio Manager, SPM, Construction/Supervisor Teams, and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of the projects’ delivery objectives, report on and review project performance, and agree solutions to issues.
* Maintain compliance with the DBFO contract, clarifying roles and responsibilities within your team, resolving risks and issues in a timely manner, producing timely and accurate reports, and creating and maintaining specified records including change management.
* Identify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate, and developing, agreeing, and implementing solutions to overcome these.
* Lead and oversee projects throughout their lifecycle through feasibility, design, construction, and handover, informing investment proposals for clients at each stage.
* Global or master programme maintenance for whole portfolios.
* Programme income and cost profiles, overseeing and challenging the Project Managers' input.
* Client liaison on a project and portfolio level.
* Chair and drive regular (fortnightly) project reviews to ensure the following are current and live:
o Project and division risk register
o Project risk category (on financial spreadsheet)
o Review submissions register
o Review of AWN Correspondence Register progress comments and milestone dates
o Project income and cost forecast (review of PM profiles)
o Project change
o Project priorities (for resource allocation)
o Manage correspondence and queries through Aconex
* Project change control and reviewing processes and procedures.
* Allocation of projects to PMs based on appropriate knowledge, experience, ability, and capability (workload).
* Work closely with the Construction/Supervisor team to ensure permits, certificates, and site reporting are managed correctly and align to project needs.
* Managing NEC Contracts Options as Project Manager.
Working Arrangements:
* Ability and willingness to travel to other offices and depots on the network as required.
* Periodic requirement for site visits (night shift).
* Full Driving License.
* Attend the office 60% of the working week.
Qualifications / Skills:
* Experience in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
* Project Management skills, preferably supported by recognised PM qualification, PRINCE2, APMP, etc.
* Preference for minimum HNC / HND (or equivalent) in a civil engineering or other construction-based discipline.
* Broad knowledge and understanding of other design areas.
* Understanding of Environmental requirements of schemes.
* Experience of coordinating interfaces with design teams and external resources.
* Understanding of H&S Requirements related to highway construction & maintenance works.
* Knowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation.
* Competent in exercising the duties under CDM.
* Applicable CSCS Card.
* Team leadership and management experience in driving performance and productivity.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong customer focus with a service delivery mindset.
* Commercial understanding and budgetary control experience.
* Understanding of Lean principles.

* Experience at a senior level in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
* Previous experience in a similar role with demonstrable competence in relation to the majority of the responsibilities listed above.
* Experience of managing projects through complete lifecycle.
Additional Information:
Working Arrangements: Base location can be either Leatherhead, South Mimms, or Dartford with travel to projects or other offices as required. Requirement for site visits, including night shift H&S audits, may also be required.
Must have a valid driving licence
