Liaises with: Medical Device Businesses incl Clevedon, Stroud/Measham, Vacsax, Medical Device Management Teams, DCC Vital Quality Teams
Summary
The Strategic Procurement Lead is responsible for ensuring the supply chain requirements of the business are met with regard to working capital, process control, the reasonable application of at or below market costs, and the regular monitoring of supply. The role will also be responsible for the development and application of SC KPI and via regular review. They will support organisation-wide processes to ensure the necessary products, of the right quality and the right price, are procured on time to meet demand, particularly focusing on the introduction of new products via NPD or through acquired business.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide handover and support of the current cost-down initiative being rolled out in Fannin.
* Engage and introduce regular supply and performance reviews with key suppliers, connecting contractual commitment and development.
* Support the commercial team in developing the right balanced commitment of product value by ensuring cost of supply is comparable with market value, providing challenge and support where necessary.
* Support and liaise with the buying community across DCC Vital.
* Provide tactical support and leverage to the introduction of new products via NPD or acquisitions.
* Lead the addition of new products from NPD through systematic controls and procedures, ensuring systems are in place to manage new products via the ERP system.
* Introduce and drive an S&OP process to manage PO demands and commitments to control working capital commitments.
* Support the control of inventory levels at key warehousing sites and stock turns.
* Provide new expertise, processes, and controls to the current knowledge of the Division.
* Understand the needs of the DCC Vital value stream for the future as well as supplier strategies and build plans to influence and drive alignment.
* Develop and communicate initiatives and projects to improve cost performance and added value of the supply chain solutions and functionally lead their executions through the internal supply chain organisation.
* Work closely with leadership and stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and deliver resolution to complex supplier issues.
* Use effective influencing skills to ensure key projects/initiatives are managed and delivered on plan and to budget.
* Present at an executive level regularly improvement activities and issue status.
* Develop leading KPI metrics to drive improvements and waste reduction across the team.
* Be accountable for facilitating the resolution of problems with internal and external stakeholders.
* Be involved with and lead continuous improvement exercises.
* Visit suppliers for senior account reviews.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement.
* Experience in the medical device industry or similar.
* Experience of Quality & ISO Systems including ISO 13485.
* Excellent computer literacy.
* Proven verbal and written communication skills, and very good listening skills.
* Ability to create a positive impact and convey confidence and credibility to others.
* Establish and maintain good working and interpersonal relationships.
* Ability to make decisions with confidence relying on previous experience to inform decisions.
* Ability to produce results, prioritise objectives & schedule work to best use time and resources.
* A strong understanding of the commercial implications of the role.
* Ability to cope effectively with pressure and setbacks and maintain commitment in spite of opposition.
The role demands a well-organised approach, underpinned by the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing. Reliability, IT literacy, and the ability to plan and complete projects to set timelines is essential.
Other Information:
* Full-time, permanent role.
* Available to work beyond normal office hours including international travel as required.
