We are pleased to be working with a large NHS Trust in Cheshire to support with the recruitment of Band 5 Theatre Practitioners to join their existing Theatres and their new Surgical Centre opening in April 2025. We have a significant number of vacancies for Band 5 Theatre Practitioners (Scrub & Recovery) and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) covering the Crewe and Northwich areas. This is an excellent time to join The trust as they have just started work on their Healthier Futures programme, developing services for the people of Cheshire well into the future, including a brand-new hospital. The new centre will have 2 new theatres as well as an Ophthalmic injection room. The department will undertake a range of procedures under local anaesthetic including Ophthalmic, ENT, General Surgery, Pain & Orthopaedics. JOB PURPOSE You will be a proficient health care professional competent to provide planned care for patients undergoing anaesthetic and surgical procedures. The post holder will be expected to provide a wide range of clinical skills, including areas of particular clinical expertise and advice within the team. You will work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. CLINICAL SKILLS • Assess, plan and implement care according to patient needs, assisting in clinical/operative procedures and by providing pre, intra and postoperative care, preparing for and handing over patient care to others. • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team/agencies to ensure that patient needs are met especially in relation to on-going care needs and discharge arrangements. • Involve patients, relatives/carers in providing reassurance and support to assist their understanding and co-operation. • Ensure that the clinical environment is correctly and safely prepared, that the appropriate level of cleanliness is maintained, and that relevant materials and equipment needed for clinical procedures are available and ready for use, including the clearing away and restoring equipment/environment afterwards. • Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. • Collect, collate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records/documentation. • Participate in the surgical/anaesthetic on call rotas. • Promote the individual needs of the patient, by acknowledging preferences, rights and choices, respecting privacy and dignity, and by promoting anti-discriminatory practice, alerting senior staff if patient care appears to de disrespectful or discriminatory. • Establish and maintain effective communication, maintaining confidentiality of information. • Continually monitor standards, by identifying risks, benchmarking, audit and research, assisting the Senior Theatre Practitioner in the implementation of action plans. Preferred Experience: Ideally, candidates will have experience in Theatre/Scrub, Anaesthetic, or PACU environments. However, the trust are open to strong candidates who may not have direct experience in these areas but demonstrate transferable skills and potential.
