There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our North London Division is looking to recruit a Technical Manager to join the Division’s Technical team.
The Role
The role of Technical Manager will support the Technical Director and the wider business, including our Construction, Commercial, and Sales teams, in the execution of construction projects through ongoing support and timely delivery of accurate architectural and technical information. Additionally, the Technical Manager will be responsible for the management of the wider technical team, ensuring day-to-day activities and tasks are delivered accurately and on time.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Support the Head of Technical / Technical Director in managerial issues and provide relevant reporting where required, including supporting, mentoring, and managing.
2. Ensure regular Design Team Meetings occur at the early stages of development with the relevant consultants.
3. Oversee the production of working drawings and detailed information to ensure completeness, coherence, accuracy, and timely availability.
4. Provide technical support during land buying, planning, sales, construction, and post-construction phases.
5. Review new site information from Land and check it prior to committing to the drawing stage.
6. Assess planning information for compliance with Building Regulation requirements.
7. Agree on programmes, packages, detail packages, and superstructures before final issuance.
8. Ensure consultants are briefed on the required distribution of drawing information and key dates to meet procurement requirements.
9. Ensure NHBC approval is obtained, and any conditions are cleared promptly to avoid delays to completions.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
Experience
1. Experience of working as a Technical Manager or in a senior position within a technical function for a volume housebuilder.
2. A track record for effectively managing a high-performing team.
Qualifications and Training
1. HNC/HND in a building-related topic.
2. CSCS card or equivalent.
3. Current full UK driving licence.

1. Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
2. Methodical, conscientious, organized, and committed to delivering high standards.
3. Ability to recognize problems and address them promptly.
4. Ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally.

6. Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
7. Demonstrates problem-solving and effective delegation skills.
8. Proficient IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and adaptability to new systems.
Working Conditions
Office-based role with regular travel to development sites and for meetings. Willingness to be flexible regarding day-to-day duties and hours worked.
