Applications are invited to apply for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
TheSenior Clinical Fellow in conjunction with the ED consultants and Nurses would be expected to manage the wide variety of acute adult and paediatric emergencies presenting to the department. They would be expected to provide support to junior colleagues.

The successful candidate will join the only Emergency Department in the Milton Keynes District which currently serves a population of over 200,000.
This is a busy teaching hospital with affiliations to the University of Oxford, Health Education Thames Valley (HETV) and the University of Buckingham Medical School (opened in January 2015). There are ample opportunities for career development, teaching experience and research.

Job responsibilities
We work closely with acute medical colleagues to work in innovative ways to ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients and have recently opened a new Same Day Emergency Care service which is nationally recognised.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with the University of Buckingham and will also be expected to support colleagues doing these activities as part of his or her arranged job plan.
The duties of the Senior Clinical Fellow doctor are those of a doctor functioning at the middle grade level within the department. Primary duties include the initial diagnosis, resuscitation and overall clinical management of all patients arriving to the A&E Department. Appropriate follow-up, referral for admission, transfer or discharge to GPs care is an important part of the work along with liaison with colleagues in the community,, GPs, Health Visitors, and District Nurse for the proper continuity of care. There is an opportunity to get involved with teaching simulation- including a bimonthly teaching for the SHOs and Middle grades including multi-disciplinary teaching with other specialties.
It is expected that you will supervise the junior doctors in the department whilst working on the shop floor, advising and reviewing their patients as necessary.
