Summary
Watson is Ontario’s premier building materials supplier, and our Cambridge location is currently looking for a highly motivated Boom Truck Operator. The Boom Truck Operator transports products to job sites and places these materials in requested work locations.
Location – 120 Sheldon Drive, Cambridge
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform circle-checks and complete logbook entries
2. Transport loads in a professional manner, following the road rules and representing the company to the highest standards.
3. Ensure proper vehicle and boom/ mobile crane maintenance and servicing
4. Verify load security and accuracy
5. Deliver materials to the satisfaction of customers and maintain an emphasis on safety, service, and efficiency
6. Safe operation of the boom/ mobile crane while loading and unloading
7. Communicate with customers and other trades on construction sites
8. Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve issues as they arise
9. Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed
10. Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures
11. Other duties as assigned by management
Skills and Qualifications
1. Valid DZ/AZ driver’s license (or equivalent) with a minimum of two years of experience and a clean driver’s abstract
2. 0 - 8 ton mobile crane certification with a minimum of 1 year of experience
3. Practical written and oral communication skills
4. Ability to work independently and as a team
5. Knowledge of basic mathematics
6. Basic hand tool skills
7. Physical requirements include:
1. Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs
2. Sitting and driving for long periods
3. Frequently climbing up and downstairs
8. Pulling, pushing, bending, and torso twisting movements to transfer building materials between truck and job site
Compensation
1. Bonus - eligible for a monthly competitive piece work bonus on top of base hourly pay (conditions apply)
