WIG is delighted to be supporting Avante Care & Support; a not-for-profit organisation that cares for and supports over 1000 older people through registered nursing and dementia care homes, home care and well-being support services. They have been providing care and support for over 30 years and are also the largest registered charity in Kent. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, developing the organisations aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document and legal & regulatory guidelines. The organisation is seeking two new Trustees. Avante particularly encourage applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates, as these groups are currently underrepresented, both on the current Avante Board and at governance-level in the broader sector. We are also keen to hear from people who live in and around Kent, as we are keen for our trustees to have the opportunity to visit our homes and services as part of their due diligence. As terms come to an end, we are seeking to appoint new Trustees with fresh perspectives and energy. It is not essential to have had prior governance experience to apply for the role. We are looking for two Trustees to join us: one with legal experience, and one with social care or charitable leadership expertise. We are also very interested in hearing from candidates with an HR background. Desirable social care and charitable experience includes: Social care experience; either practical, delivery, operational or commissioning. Experience running a charitable enterprise either operationally or on a board. HR background from working either in a charity, NHS or wider social care organisation. Desirable legal experience includes: We are interested in hearing from candidates with a broad range of legal backgrounds. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked on conveyancing, corporate buying or other types of property law. We are interested in lawyers who have worked with land acquisitions or working with leaseholds or other types of property tenures. We would also be interested in hearing from candidates who have extensive experience in employment law. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who are based in the Southeast as most of our meetings are held in person, and we do require Trustees to visit properties and services to aid their knowledge in decision making.
