An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 SACT nurse to join CTU as a Junior Sister. The Junior Sister will have delegated responsibilities for the management of the clinical area, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, and the setting of standards on a shift basis and in the authorised absence of the Ward Manager, as well as being a trained SACT nurse.
The Junior Sister will participate in innovation and evidence-based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the Ward Manager and the Clinical Nurse Educator. The Junior Sister will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential, and take on the leadership of specific projects as agreed with the Ward Manager and Lead SACT Nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate communication, resulting in clear responsibilities being identified within the multi-professional team.
2. Exchange verbal and written information with patients, staff, and carers requiring tact and diplomacy, ensuring all barriers to understanding are overcome by using differing strategies to meet individual needs.
3. Deputise for the Ward Manager at Directorate/Divisional meetings and working groups.
4. Uphold the values of the ward promoting openness, transparency, and learning.
5. Support the Ward Manager with HR tasks such as sickness monitoring and return to work.
6. Ensure that patient concerns are addressed on the ward/department and work with the Patient Advisory and Liaison Service (PALS) and patient forums. Participate in the resolution of complaints/adverse incidents and implement action plans to prevent re-occurrence.
