We are looking for an test engineer to join our team to help us deliver a wide range of data solutions to a UK Government customer. As part of an integrated team the successful candidate will lead the test function, design, create and execute Automated and Manual Functional, Non-functional and System Integration tests. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate leadership qualities and have both automation and manual testing experience, across a range of testing levels, ideally within a virtualised cloud based infrastructure. Key responsibilities: • Responsible for end to end Test Process and delivery of Factory Acceptance Test events; • Responsible for creation and maintenance of Test Strategy and Test Plans; • Use a range of technologies to create, review, maintain and execute Automated and Manual, Functional, Non-Functional and Systems Integration test scripts; • Create, review and maintain Test designs/Test Procedures; • Derive Test Cases for product features from ambiguous business requirements or design documentation; • Derive complex data to support Test Case execution; • Collaborate with Software Developers and Data Engineers to obtain a deep understanding of the code base and test coverage at unit level; • Collaborate with third party stakeholders to ensure business requirements coverage in acceptance scripts; • Responsible for providing client support during acceptance testing; • Manage and maintain Automated and Manual Test Case baselines; • Document Test Results; • Defect lifecycle management, including identification, classification, debugging and trend analysis; • Produce Test Reports, requirement verification matrices and interim reports for stakeholders at a range of management levels; • Responsible for coaching and mentoring other testers within the team. Key Skills • 4 years’ test experience (or 3 years’ experience with ISTQB Foundation Certificate in software testing); • Excellent understanding of the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipeline/Testing Lifecycle and the different types of testing including Automated and Manual Functional, Non-Functional and Integration Testing; • Demonstrable Systems Integration experience including Automated and Manual Integration of third party systems or components; • Demonstrable Automated and Manual Functional and Non-Functional testing experience, including front-end dashboard, data visualisation tools and back-end database testing; • Demonstrable experience working with a variety of stakeholders to identify objectives; • Experience of taking ownership and driving delivery of testing projects; • Experience in a range of technologies; • Experience of creating Functional and Non-functional Test Cases based on requirements and design documents, employing industry standard testing techniques; • Strong investigative skills - ability to investigate problems and opportunities in processes and recommend solutions; • Strong oral and written communication skills – ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members; • Self-motivated and willing to speak to colleagues to find out missing information; • Enthusiastic, proactive, troubleshooting attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies. Desired Skills and Experience: • Working with complex integration programmes with complex data requirements; • Experience using Agile Software Development methodologies; • Experience using the Atlassian toolkit or equivalent tools; • Experience using Test Case and Requirements repository tools; • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services including AWS, Microsoft Azure suite and Power BI applications. This position is a full time, permanent role and applicants must have (or be able to acquire) SC clearance.
