Sick of googling 'graduate jobs north east'? Or still wondering what the best graduate jobs are in the North East? Considering what happens in the world of finance? Or perhaps, how you go about getting into it and what roles are available (spoiler alert: it's not just an adviser!)...
You could join our ever-growing team at The Verve Group and have the opportunity to learn the ropes and springboard you into a rewarding and successful career with us, in financial services, right here in the North East. Roles with us include, but are not limited to, paraplanning, regulation, technical research, investment propositions and so much more.
About the roles
In all of our trainee and graduate jobs, we always start with learning the basics first – it’s the best foundation for success (much like internships). This involves getting some training on the background of financial services and learning all about the billion-pound UK finance sector and the importance of people receiving sound financial advice.
After some theoretical learning and example practice work, you’ll move onto working on real life client cases, getting to grips with the administration that's involved behind the scenes of any piece of advice, alongside learning the ins and outs of a range of financial products, like pensions, ISAs, and general investments.
Within three months we are confident we can provide you with a strong foundation of theoretical knowledge combined with practical work to provide you with a stepping stone into one of our more technical areas of expertise.
At this point, we will reassess your skills and work to that point and align your natural acumen with one of the technical opportunities available. This may be in paraplanning, compliance or any number of other technical roles focussed on delivering our services.
You will then spend a further three months in that role, expanding your expertise and applying your knowledge to your specific role, for the remainder of your 6-month probationary period.
If you successfully complete your probation, you’ll then be incorporated fully into the Verve team and have access to all of the benefits this brings! We will work with you to agree your own personal development programme for the rest of the year, with the expectation you’ll keep developing your skills and continue your education with financial services specific qualifications (all fully paid for and supported by us!)
About you
As an organisation, we ask for only two things when recruiting; you do a top quality job (we're not the place for people seeking to do the bare minimum) and that you’re nice (we champion a positive workplace) - both are key ingredients to a successful career with us, graduate job or otherwise.
We have a great track record attracting new talent, including trainees and graduates, to financial services - having won awards for our graduate programme and members of the team recognised as future leaders. So if you think we're on the same page, are committed to learn something new and have a real interest creating a career in financial services, then get applying!
As with all trainee / graduate jobs, this role heavily involves a broad range of training - both of our internal systems, technology and processes, as well as understanding financial services. Typically, it's a role that's always been popular with graduates (but a degree isn't a prerequisite!) and those developing or taking their career in a different direction. Strong written English is a must, as is a can-do, pro-active attitude to learn the ropes of the role and the industry.
