We are currently looking to recruit individuals to join our friendly, dynamic Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse team on ward E39 in the Nottingham Children's Hospital on a permanent basis. The deputy sister role on E39 is a diverse and integral role within the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will be part of the senior nursing team within the ward and will work with your colleagues, other professionals within the children's hospital and the wider MDT to provide safe, effective, and efficient family centred care. You will also support the ward manager providing leadership and assurance for the ward, ensuring quality standards are achieved and maintained.
Main duties of the job
Ward E39 is a 15 bedded ward where we care for children and young people with oncological, haematological and rheumatological conditions. The Band 6 registered nurse role is essential to the safe and effective running of the ward area as the role entails delivery of direct patient care as well as ensuring that consistently safe and effective care is delivered to patients and their families, which incorporates the provision of emotional support. In addition, the band 6 role provides leadership and management support to the Ward Sister and ward team to ensure the safe and effective running of the ward on a daily basis. The band 6 nurse within paediatric oncology provides specialist and expert knowledge to ensure the safe delivery of complex patient care on a 24/7 basis.
The appropriate candidate would need to be chemotherapy trained and would need to have experience of managing the ward on a daily basis. An oncology course is essential and APLS/EPALS provider would be desirable for this post.
