Job Description - Surgical Coordinator (Falmouth) (TEMP) (250315-50022999)
Purpose of Position: To provide surgical scheduling services in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with departmental procedures while providing outstanding customer service to all existing and potential MACC patients.
Description:
1. Schedule surgical appointments for the practice
2. Obtain reports of lab work, X-ray, EKG reports by primary care doctor, cardiologist, etc. and fax to the appropriate facilities
3. Obtain surgical authorizations in accordance with insurance company guidelines to ensure proper financial clearance
4. Communicate with referring providers regarding scheduling and completion of surgeries
5. Check-in and check-out patients as needed; responsibilities will include verifying and obtaining insurance and demographic information, collecting co-payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments
6. Answer the phone in a timely, polite and professional manner, in three rings or less, direct calls to appropriate persons and take accurate messages within the electronic medical record
7. Demonstrate the ability to adjust to unexpected changes to assure that all responsibilities/duties are met during absences or increased patient volumes
8. Maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests
9. Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
10. Float to front desk for coverage when needed
11. Ability to float to other MACC practices when required
12. Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested
Qualifications:
1. Ability to read, write and communicate in English
2. High school graduate or equivalent
3. Experience in a medical office setting including scheduling of at least one (1) year experience or Bachelor’s Degree
4. Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. At least one (1) year experience with current office technology, proficient with medical computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.) preferred
7. Medical Terminology knowledge preferred
8. Typing skills at 30 WPM preferred
