Job Purpose
We are seeking a Senior Systems Management Engineer to join our Technology Services team at United Utilities. The role involves the routine and non-routine management of systems infrastructure and software technologies supporting our IT strategy.
Job Accountabilities
1. Responsible for monthly patches and configuring tools using MS Systems Centre including MS Operations Manager, MS Orchestration Manager, MS Configuration Manager.
2. Ensure 24/7/365 availability of supported platforms through monitoring and optimization. Develop expertise in system configurations and operational requirements.
3. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements like GDPR and NIS.
4. Contribute to operational KPI reporting.
5. Provide technical support and documentation.
6. Identify and implement service improvements through automation.
Knowledge and Skills
1. ITIL 3+ Foundation Qualification or equivalent.
2. Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft System Center and automation platforms.
4. Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
5. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
6. Understanding of security protocols, networking technologies, and source code repositories.
7. Experience with dashboard technologies and cloud environments.
