Ecological Clerk of Works - UK Wide
We have opportunities nationwide for Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoWs) to join our UK Ecology Team. The successful individuals will join a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects both locally and internationally. We have ecology teams across the UK and would welcome applicants to our offices in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Norwich, Peterborough, Bristol, and Winnersh (Reading).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivering some of the most challenging, diverse, and innovative infrastructure projects, including water infrastructure, highway and rail schemes, and energy infrastructure for clients such as Anglian Water, National Highways, National Grid, Network Rail, Thames Water, The Environment Agency, Transport Scotland, and various local authorities.
2. Working in multidisciplinary teams to build rapport and ensure that terrestrial ecology requirements are recognized and acted upon.
3. Engagement with clients, both internal and external, attending site meetings and understanding the works programme.
4. Leading from the front as the first point of contact in providing expert advice to clients and stakeholders, monitoring and managing construction risks associated with ecology, and advising on mitigation to minimize risks and delays.
5. Being site-based, delivering toolbox talks and onsite guidance to contractors, attending meetings, conducting checks for protected and notable species, and compiling site reports.
6. Working across the UK with potential to stay away from home during the working week, operating in various environments such as operational construction sites and remote areas.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A background in terrestrial ecology with previous experience acting as an Ecological Clerk of Works.
2. Working knowledge of relevant UK legislation, planning policy, and best practice guidance.
3. Good understanding of wildlife and environmental legislation with the ability to communicate this clearly.
4. Eligibility for CIEEM membership.
5. Ability to write clear and concise reports.
