A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for one the UK's largest multi-disciplinary engineering businesses where they Design and Build unique engineering projects within Rail, Building Services, Infrastructure and Energy sectors. Our client has an opening for a ambitious site based Rail Quantity Surveyor to join an innovative team and be working on a Major Rail Depot project. What you will be doing:
* Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets and cost plans for rail projects.
* Conduct detailed measurements and valuations of work done on-site.
* Prepare and analyse project costings for tenders, including materials, quantities, labour, and time.
* Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Monitor project progress and ensure costs are kept within budget.
* Provide regular financial reports and updates to project managers and stakeholders.
* Assess and value variations and changes to the contract.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
* Assist in the preparation of final accounts and project close-out reports.
* Collaborate with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in the rail industry.
* Strong understanding of construction and rail industry standards, contracts, and regulations.
* Proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools (e.g., CostX, RICS New Rules of Measurement, etc.).
* Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES) is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working on major rail infrastructure projects.
* Familiarity with NEC and JCT contracts.
* Certification in Project Management or Construction Management.
