Health and Safety Officer skills: The Health and Safety Officer role is ideal for an experienced, self-reliant professional with 5 years of construction or civil engineering experience: A third-level qualification in Health and Safety or a related field. IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) membership preferred. Strong experience within the construction or civil engineering sector, ideally in large infrastructure or groundworks projects. Ability to manage Health and Safety independently on-site in line with the company’s management system. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable with new technologies (Mobile Apps, etc.). Able to lead and deliver Health and Safety meetings and presentations. Key Responsibilities: Reporting to and working closely with the Group Health and Safety Manager. Identify site-specific hazards and ensure they are managed in both documentation and practice on-site. Conduct site safety inspections and investigate any accidents or dangerous occurrences within your designated area. Perform Risk Assessments and complete Method Statements. Contribute to and deliver Tool Box Talks and discussions. Collaborate with Site Managers to ensure all Health and Safety documentation is up to date. Conduct training for new and existing employees as needed.
