We are now seeking an exceptional Head of English to lead and develop our dynamic and dedicated English department.

As Head of English, you will play a central role in shaping the future of the department and ensuring our students enjoy a rich, stimulating English curriculum.
The Role:
Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement.
Develop and implement an inspiring and ambitious English curriculum across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5.
Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development for a team of dedicated English teachers.
Monitor student progress and implement strategies to drive improvement and raise attainment.
Foster a love of literature, language, and critical thinking, encouraging students to become passionate, confident readers and writers.
Lead the development of departmental initiatives, including extracurricular activities, clubs, and school productions.
Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the English department’s vision aligns with the school’s goals.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Be a qualified teacher with QTS and substantial experience in teaching English at Key Stage 3, 4, and ideally 5.
Have experience of leadership or management within an English department or a similar role.
Possess excellent knowledge of English curriculum development and assessment.
Be an inspiring and innovative educator, passionate about English and committed to fostering a love of literature in students.
Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team of teachers.
Be proactive in creating an environment of high expectations, challenge, and achievement.
