Our Maritime team are at the forefront of innovative maritime planning, design and development. Role Context:
We're seeking an exceptional Senior and Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer to join our team at RHDHV. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the future and contribute to the critical mission of maintaining submarine fleets. The main area of focus will be in the Southwest of the UK but there may be opportunities to support projects elsewhere in the UK and potentially overseas.
As a Senior / Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer, you'll provide expert advice on all aspects of submarine facilities that are required to support the Royal Navy submarine fleet. For the foreseeable future, there will be significant investment in the UK and Australian Submarine support facilities and as such you will have the opportunity to support the design and upgrade legacy and new submarine maintenance facilities.
Typical day to day activities include:
* Supporting the business and our clients by providing your expert knowledge around safety engineering.
* Provide technical advice on nuclear safety assessment processes and policy
* Act as the focal point for nuclear safety related issues
* When working on projects, ensure compliance with statutory legislation
* Support the delivery of nuclear safety cases as necessary
* Lead on the development of nuclear safety knowledge within the business.
* Work closely with key clients and partners in support of defence related projects around new infrastructure or upgrades to existing facilities.
* Where appropriate, undertake a Project Director role where your technical knowledge and experience would be beneficial.
What we feel is the required skills and experience:
* A background in nuclear / radiological / Structural safety.
* Experience of RN SSN submarine nuclear safety cases
* Good interpersonal skills and be competent in verbal and written communication.
* The ability to operate and interface effectively with senior stakeholders
* Experience in Project Management is desirable supported with recognised qualifications.
* Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience. Chartered Engineer status is desirable or working towards this.
* The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.

This role is full time at 37.5 hours a week with a hybrid working structure and will be based at out of our Exeter Office. Agile working is available to employees, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met.
