This Band 6 Occupational Therapist role is an exciting opportunity to work within an Older Persons Mental Health Unit, supporting patients with complex mental health needs such as dementia, depression, or anxiety disorders. You will deliver person-centred interventions aimed at enhancing patient's functional abilities, independence, and quality of life. Main duties of the job As a Band 6 OT your main duties will include conducting comprehensive assessments of patient's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs, considering the impact of their mental health conditions. You will develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans that promote recovery, well-being, and functional independence. You will utilise standardized assessment tools and clinical judgement to complete care planning. You will be expected to support patients in developing coping mechanisms and adapting to their environments. You will help with providing therapy sessions and one-to-one interventions tailored to patient's needs. You will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to deliver holistic care. You will attend and contribute to case discussions, care reviews, and discharge planning meetings. You will be expected to provide specialist advice to the MDT regarding occupational performance and functional abilities. You will provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior OTs, therapy assistants, and student on placements. You will be expected to engage in continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills, attend relevant raining, workshops and conferences. This role requires a dynamic and compassionate OT who can balance clinical responsibilities and professional development to deliver outstanding care for older adults with mental health needs.
