As a Hiab Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating a lorry-mounted crane to load, transport, and unload various goods and materials. You'll work in diverse environments, including construction sites, industrial facilities, rural areas, forest tracks, single track roads and other remote sites around the highlands and islands. Key Responsibilities Operate lorry-mounted cranes (Hiab and other brands) to load and unload goods – plant, steel structures, mono poles, cabins and containers and other general hiab work. Conduct pre-operational checks on the vehicle and crane equipment Plan and execute safe lifting operations in various environments Secure loads properly for transportation Navigate and drive the lorry to delivery locations Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle operations Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies Perform basic maintenance on the vehicle and crane equipment Communicate effectively with clients, site managers, and colleagues Work as a key part of the lifting team whilst on site or in the yard. Prepared to operate other lifting or tracked machinery as required. Required Qualifications Valid UK driving licence (Category CE) ALLMI (Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers) or CPCS Certificate Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Good understanding of UK road and transport regulations Slinger signaller Lift supervisor – Desired Plant loader / securer – Desired Skills and Attributes Previous experience as a Hiab operator or in a similar role Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure Good interpersonal and communication skills Physical fitness and ability to handle manual tasks Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekend Ability to operate and load tracked machinery Keen to learn and operate operation of other Hiab mounted vehicles Work in some of the most remote and stunning areas of the UK Health and Safety Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment Ability to assess risks and take appropriate precautions Knowledge of load securing techniques and weight distribution Salary and Benefits Competitive salary based on experience - from £18.00 per hour plus overtime and weekend allowance Ongoing training and professional development Work Location: Inverness or Wick
