Thales Underwater Systems delivers a state of the art Sonar capability for UK and International Navies. Our systems are developed for a wide range of significant defence projects, including the Astute and Dreadnought class submarines, Merlin helicopters, Type 23 frigates and the Hunt class mine countermeasures vessel., As a Manufacturing Technician within Thales, you are a key member of the manufacturing team based at our site in Templecombe where we are producing the next-generation of Sonar technologies, for which we are world-renowned., Joining a friendly and collaborative team, you will be accountable for performing manufacturing operations in accordance with appropriate engineering drawings and documents, by working within the allocated times and the required quality criteria.
* Produce on time and to quality manufacture of Electrical assemblies
* Performs mechanical/electrical assembly operations, as defined by: - routings, manufacturing instructions, wiring schedules and drawings
* Identifies and logs faults.
* Maintains any necessary documentation as part of the build process.
* Ensures production equipment and tools are used and maintained to the required workshop standards.
* Ensuring 5S standards are met
* Ensuring any quality non-conformances are logged and escalated
* Operating machinery
* Escalating blockers and issues to team leader
* Escalating Health and safety issues to team leader
Having ideally already gained some practical experience within electrical or mechanical engineering this is an opportunity for you to further your technical skills and knowledge and really start to build a successful career with a leader in their field. Full training and support will be constantly provided and the sky really is the limit for those who want to progress.
Individuals who may be lacking some experience but have attained relevant BTEC's/NVQ's/City & Guilds qualifications or similar will also be considered if they can demonstrate the drive, passion and potential needed to succeed., You should have a few years' experience, preferably in a manufacturing background, and are looking for your next career move. You will need to be able to work unsupervised and be a motivated self-starter. We would love you to have experience in as much of the following as possible but again, full training and support will be constantly provided.
* Capable of working to Manufacturing Instructions
* Working in a multi skilled Production environment or similar
* Proven experience in building electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies
* Experience of mechanical assembly
* Machining. Milling, grinding or turning
* Experience in wiring and soldering
* The ability to interpret a build pack (drawings and wiring diagrams)
* Genuine interest in working in a technical manufacturing role
* Able to grasp and develop technical skills
* Can follow instructions and work to tight deadlines
* Experienced PC user MS Word & Excel
