An expansive role where you will oversee many aspects of the new site and build teams across various departments taking on personnel that are genuinely skilled and passionate about delivering a superlative customer experience. You will manage the day-to-day operations of exhibitions, gardens, and the restaurant to ensure everything runs smoothly and meets visitors’ high expectations.
Management of the site will include upkeep of museum installations, maintenance of all areas including the gardens, and the efficient running of the restaurant team. You’ll have budgetary responsibility and be instrumental in defining long-term goals by developing and implementing business models to help grow the business.
Finally, you’ll be key in upholding relationships with suppliers and the wider community, overall creating an inviting and engaging environment across the whole site.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Suit an ambitious and driven leader with experience working in the hospitality or visitor experience sector, where guest satisfaction is paramount.
2. You must have a keen interest in South African history, be fluent in Afrikaans, and be able to travel internationally.
3. You will ideally have experience in guest facilities, restaurant management, or food production, coupled with a good understanding of hospitality and restaurant environments.
4. Good organisation and people management skills are a must in order to succeed in this role, and a high level of financial literacy is also necessary.
5. Relevant qualifications in business, museum, or hospitality management are desirable.
