We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Hoveringham team in the position of Maintenance Electrician.
The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for the safe electrical maintenance, repair, or replacement of plant equipment and systems, ensuring that plant & equipment remains operational, and that all plant & equipment is serviced in accordance with the site's planned preventative maintenance schedules.
Your contractual hours will be Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts across a three-shift pattern (days/nights/afters). You will be expected to work additional hours across the week or at weekends to ensure the site plant & equipment is maintained to a reliable standard when required. Overtime rates are x1.5 Monday to Saturday, x2 on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Your duties would include but are not limited to the following:
1. As part of a small team, work on your own initiative, taking decisions as the need arises, including electrical repairs and some basic mechanical operator roles (provided competently and authorized).
2. Understand the systems operation, its components, and be able to diagnose and repair faults.
3. Attend training in specialist areas as required.
4. Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed to high standards to protect company assets.
5. Complete planned preventative maintenance schedules and ensure that the manufacturer’s guidance maintenance procedures are followed.
6. Maintain a safe standard of housekeeping (adopting a clean as you go policy).
7. Carry out periodic plant & equipment inspections according to current legislation.
8. Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations.
9. Advise the appropriate manager immediately of any mechanical defects discovered.
10. Ensure that PPE is issued, kept, and maintained in good condition.
11. Other duties as delegated by management.
12. Assist in working weekends on a rotation basis during busy periods resulting in weekend manufacturing.
13. Shadow a current site engineer at the start of your employment for familiarisation with the site.
14. Attend specific training courses to complete your tasks.
About You:
1. Previous experience of working as part of a team.
2. Experience in a heavy industry factory environment is advantageous.
3. Flexible in approach and able to work on your own initiative when called upon.
4. Positive attitude towards Health & Safety is essential.
5. Knowledge of LOTOTO isolation is an advantage.
6. Ideally trained to IOSH Managing Safety standards.
7. IPAF advantageous (3A/3B).
8. FLT up to 5T counter-balance advantageous.
9. Time-served qualification in an Electrical Engineering discipline (e.g., apprenticeship).
10. Minimum qualification level is NVQ level 3; minimum 17th edition regulations required.
11. City and Guilds Level 3 / BTEC or equivalent.
12. BS7671 – 17th Edition or later.
13. Ability to work at heights is essential.
14. Driving license and means of transport essential to fulfill job requirements.
15. A basic set of tools is required to complete daily tasks.
