Job summary Join our team; we are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated individual to join a friendly orthoptic department in Hampshire Hospitals on a locum contract. The three main hospital sites to the hospital are; Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover. Our department primarily consists of four orthoptists three paediatric ophthalmologist/motility and nystagmus specialists; we work closely with the optometrists and the ophthalmologists with other specialities, junior doctors and outpatient departments across the trust. Main duties of the job The caseload is varied and will include core orthoptic, adult ocular motility and paediatric clinics linked with the ophthalmologist. Refraction clinics linked to the optometrist and orthoptic led sessions using the plus optix. There will also be support and encouragement be involved in an extended role. Current roles include injection clinics, special educational needs and visual stress clinics. We are involved in placements for undergraduate orthoptists and STP audiologist students. We provide CPD opportunities through regular team meetings, audits and funding for external courses. The post holder will have to travel between hospital sites and community clinics, a free bus service is available to staff between Winchester and Basingstoke Hospital. A degree or a Diploma in Orthoptics is essential, registration with the HCPC and a car to travel between clinics. About us Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient.
