We are looking for a Part-Time (20hr per week) Plaster Practitioner at St Peter's Hospital, Rowley Bristow team. We are a Monday to Friday service; however, flexibility is essential as Weekend clinics can be offered to patients at short notice. Main duties of the job
1. To work as a member of the Orthopaedic team demonstrating expertise in plaster and casting techniques.
2. To provide technical and professional support to other clinical areas within the trust.
3. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a high standard of care including undertaking specialist casting and splinting procedures.
4. The post holder will work unsupervised using their own initiative and make appropriate clinical decisions.
5. To assist in providing and developing good practice with patients in an Outpatients setting, ensuring patients and families are included in their care as per department and hospital policy.
6. To assist in the establishment, monitoring, and evaluation of agreed standards of patient care and quality service.
7. To establish an effective communication system with patients, their carers, and all staff working in the multidisciplinary team.
8. To assist with clinical and housekeeping practice and compliance with policy and procedures to prevent hospital-acquired infection.
9. To provide advice on application of cast for specialist conditions, e.g., total contact casting and its wound care for diabetic patients.

Job responsibilities
A Plaster practitioner will work closely with all nursing staff and the wider team, which includes administration staff, surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre staff, and colleagues from other departments such as Pharmacy, Radiology, and Pathology. This list is not exhaustive and it is expected that there will be other key relationships which will develop within this role.
