Senior Planner – London
Would you like to join one of the UK's Best Big Companies as awarded by Best Companies? If so, Murphy is currently looking for a Senior Planner to lead the planning function on the HS2 project based in West London and is 45 hours per week.
What you will be doing
1. Undertake the tender planning role in accordance with the business’ procedures and processes and the requirements of the contract.
2. Ensure that integrated, whole life programmes are prepared from first principles
3. Contribute the required written submission material.
4. Attend the bid review meeting to contribute a clear view of the work scope and the intentions for delivering it by reference to prepared material.
5. Attending the handover meeting to contribute a clear view of the work scope and the intentions for delivering it by reference to prepared material and further defined tasks.
6. In consultation with Estimator, advise project team of required feedback reports
7. Coach and mentor planning staff and support their professional development.
8. Ensure that the scheduling of programmes is appropriate, contract / procedurally compliant, robust, and obtainable.
9. Undertake and participate in programme risk workshops using tools such as QSRA.
10. Develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with the Client and other project stakeholders.
Who we’re looking for
11. Experienced planner who has worked on a civils major project previously for a contractor.
12. Ideal background in a site role (Engineering, planning, management) for a Tier 1 contractor
13. NEC contract experience essential
14. Programme management of consultants, stakeholder, and approval processes
15. Providing project progress reports to team and leading the compilation of upstream client reporting
About the project
As part of the HS2 London to Birmingham route SCS JV has confirmed a contract with Murphy to deliver the design and replacement of utilities that are at risk due to unacceptable levels of settlement when the HS2 tunnel boring machine passes beneath. The contract is currently worth circa £20 million and work commenced November 2021.
The project consists of 2 stages, Stage 1 is ECI works and design, Stage 2 is the replacement or diversion of the utilities in accordance with the Stage 1 design. Stage 1 is under NEC Option E and Stage 2 under NEC Option C. Currently there are 5 assets that require replacement or diversion, and these are all Cadent gas mains.
