Join the Arriva Rail Services Team as a HR Assistant Organisation; Arriva Rail Services Location; York, Crewe or Derby Hours ; Full time Monday to Friday with hybrid working Reporting into; Senior HR Business Partner About Us: Our Rail Services division supports Grand Central (GC) which is an open access train operator linking the North East and West Yorkshire with London, Arriva TrainCare (ATC) who are a growing train maintenance company and Arriva Road Transport Services who are the rail replacement operator within the Arriva Group. The Role: We are looking for an experienced HR Assistant to provide administration support and coordination to the HR function and Rail Services business in all aspects of employee lifecycle, from recruitment to exit. What You’ll Do: The first point of contact for transactional HR queries. Producing offer letters, employment contracts and supporting the onboarding process. Managing pre-employment activities, such as verifying right-to-work documentation and conducting reference checks. Creating letters to reflect changes in employee terms and conditions Processing new hires, terminations, and other updates in the HR Information System (Workday). Providing references for current and former employees in accordance with company policy. Supporting offboarding administration. Assisting with Occupational Health services, including arranging new starter medicals, booking OH appointments, organising drug and alcohol tests, medication checks, and distributing reports. Ensuring timely provision of ID and travel cards in line with business-specific terms and conditions. Assisting with the probationary period process. Providing administrative support for investigations, disciplinary hearings, and grievance meetings. Processing sickness absence data and collating return-to-work meeting documentation. Supporting monthly payroll administration. Addressing queries and administration related to benefits provision across Rail Services. Processing data information requests and preparing reports for period-end reporting. What You Bring: Qualifications – Grade C equivalent or above in English Experience – previous experience working within HR department is preferred along with experience of data inputting e.g. payroll administration Knowledge – experience working with the full range of employee lifecycle processes, Skills – strong administrative background, organised, ability to work with a high volume workload. Communication – good communication both written and verbal with the ability to listen and encouraging the sharing of ideas whilst managing conflict System Knowledge – experience working with Microsoft Office packages and previous experience of using a HR Information System is preferred (ideally Workday) Ready to start your next journey?
