This site-based, full-time permanent role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys balancing hands-on engineering with leadership, team development, and quality assurance.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Oversee and guide the daily activities of the engineering team, including workshop operations.
2. Conduct failure analysis, support condition assessments, and contribute to first article inspections (FAIs).
3. Drive process improvements and support in safety-critical environments.
4. Mentor junior engineers and technicians, ensuring continuous technical development.
What You'll Need:
1. Minimum HNC/HND in a mechanically biased discipline.
2. At least 10 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, with 5+ years in team leadership.
3. Strong engineering knowledge across sectors like rail, marine, power generation, and oil & gas.
4. Hands-on experience with mechanical driveline components (gearboxes, couplings, shafts, etc.) is advantageous.
5. Familiarity with CAD tools such as Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, and Teamcenter.
6. Solid understanding of BS 8888, ISO 9001:2015, manufacturing, and production processes.
7. Commercial awareness and a proactive, hands-on attitude.
Desirable Traits:
1. Passion for engineering and mentoring.
2. Confident communicator, both technically and conversationally.
3. Able to manage multiple projects and lead from the front.
