Based in our internal digital team, this opening is ideal for a junior-level or mid-level developer who is looking to build on their experience with Next.js and React. Alongside your colleagues in an agile environment, you’ll be working on multiple enterprise websites and associated web portals. This will include implementing new feature requests and website improvements from our UX, marketing and divisional teams alongside supporting the maintenance of our group websites. The team can offer a roadmap of exciting projects for you to be involved in. Ongoing development are very important to us, so you’ll get access to an online training subscription dedicated to the tech stack we use, alongside the mentorship and guidance provided by some really experienced developers around you. The role is based from our head office in Crewe, Cheshire, complete with gym facilities, café and breakout areas. Your Responsibilities Will Include… Developing and implementing web applications using Next.js and related front-end technologies, such as React, HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS, and Typescript Writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured code, adhering to best practices and industry standards for Next.js development Optimizing web applications for maximum performance, compatibility, and responsiveness across various platforms and devices Staying up to date with the latest advancements in Next.js, React, and front-end web development technologies, and identifying opportunities to enhance existing applications or create new ones Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX and product managers, to gather and refine requirements, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and needs Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including design documents, user guides, and API specifications, to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Knowledge of security best practices with regards to developing and maintaining WordPress themes and plugins What do we expect of you? Commercial web development experience using Next.js and React, with a good understanding of their features and best practices Experience of frontend web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries Knowledge of web development best practices, including responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimisation Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git Knowledge of agile software development methodologies A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment What can you expect of us?
