About the role:
Provide input to and lead implementation of the business development strategy to generate new/ additional business, maximise profit and grow market share for a defined geographic region in line with business strategy, financial objectives, Group guidelines and policies.
1. Define business development plans and budgets including account management approach and account plans for assigned geographic region.
2. Monitor revenue generation, profit/ expense objectives and coordinate market and customer growth and retention rate.
3. Plan and lead new business development initiatives/ operations and maximise exposure for DHL amongst targeted prospects.
4. Lead sales team to initiate and establish relationships with targeted prospects.
5. Conduct and direct market studies and feasibility studies to assess market potential.
6. Prospect and identify new business development opportunities through market research, developing marketing initiatives, etc.
7. Contact government authorities and relevant parties to seek possible business development opportunities.
8. Identify, pursue and acquire profitable business relationships with key customers.
9. Develop major leads, conduct pre-proposal visitations, and assist technical staff with proposal preparation.
10. Lead negotiations to obtain new customers and support team in complex negotiations to secure critical sales.
11. Partner with other sales managers to communicate sales problems, business observations, prospect feedback, etc.
12. Observe key trends and developments impacting business and identify change needs in business development plans.
13. Regularly enhance quality or value of existing business development methods and techniques and resolve problems with broad-based solutions considering multiple dimensions.
14. Reach agreement with external parties to accept complete proposals and programs where there is little interest in cooperating or participating.
15. Negotiate and authorise critical agreements/ contracts, changing terms and conditions significantly where required.
16. Direct and supervise team for achievement of goals by assigning work, timelines, reviewing output and managing performance.
17. Recruit, motivate, develop and coach team members.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. A Bachelor’s degree level in a relevant sector is preferred, but not essential.
2. Significant experience gained in a similar role, specifically in new business development and account management, Customer Value Proposition, Sales Forecasting, revenue growth and change management.
3. Experience of managing, leading and inspiring a team.
