Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) - Permanent Location: Huddersfield, Huddersfield International Study Centre Salary: up to £ 43000 per annum Internal Applications only - Closing Date: 9th Jan 2025 The Curriculum Leader for English (CLE) will contribute to the delivery of excellent student outcomes; quality assurance and enhancement and curriculum innovation which embeds strong collaborative working in the Centre and with both the Study Group Network and partner university. The Curriculum Leader for English will lead on key elements of the organisation of the AES team in order to support the delivery of excellent student outcomes. They will work with the Regional Head of English Curriculum to assure quality of provision and also to enhance the curriculum through the development of innovative practice. Reporting to the Regional Head of English Curriculum (RHEC), you will work closely with senior colleagues within and outside of the Centre and be accountable for the delivery of contractually required progression rates to the University. In addition to supporting the effective line management of teaching staff from an academic perspective, you will also have accountability for student outcomes in AES. ABOUT THE ROLE Support with maintaining academic oversight of the delivery, including timetabling, assessment, and monitoring of AES in the Centre Provide support to AES tutors, including providing feedback on their performance and help with arranging staff cover Support the Regional Head of English (RHEC) with the appointment of staff in AES. Participate in regular meetings with AES staff and represent the RHEC and Centre at appropriate events and meetings within the Centre, the partner university and externally. Contribute to programme centre senior management meetings as determined by the RHEC, and Centre Director(or their nominee), to inform strategic planning and resource allocation. Participate in regular meetings with AES staff/other Centre staff as requested by Centre Director(or their nominee) or RHEC. Liaise with the Student Outcomes team/progression support/progress coaches etc, to provide support and guidance for students. Support the RHEC to track and monitor AES student engagement and student outcomes throughout the year, using knowledge of appropriate and effective intervention strategies to implement support where necessary. Assure consistency of delivery and standards across the AES provision, liaise with other departments to share good practice and benefit from the dissemination of developments elsewhere in the network at subject level. Contribute to annual review, academic development and appropriate diversification of the AES provision Produce reports, analysis and evaluation for internal and external scrutiny processes as directed by the RHEC. Supervise consistency of delivery and standards across the AES provision, in line with the Study Group LTA Strategy. Any other duties as required from time to time by the RHEC. ABOUT YOU A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, a Master’s or higher degree is desirable. A recognised Teaching Qualification (desirable) Teaching experience within post-16 education, a UK pathway Centre or higher education Some experience of providing leadership with evidence of success. Experience of providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement. Ability to delegate activities set deadlines and take responsibility for overseeing their successful completion to meet challenging deadlines. Experience of working with international students with a knowledge of their needs. Experience of data management and interpretation, and quality assurance. Experience of leading, advising or supporting others to develop curricula. Experience of working within a Virtual Learning Environment.
