We are seeking dedicated and experienced Community Cafe Manager(s) to join our team to provide continuous management of our lovely, established community cafe. This involves overseeing daily operations, managing volunteers, and fostering relationships within our community hub. This could be a role for one or two individuals. If the role is shared, the managers will work alongside each other, splitting shifts, including weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
• Daily Management: Oversee daily operations, ensure smooth and efficient service. Add your own stamp to the menus. Manage stock levels and place orders as needed. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Manage operational procedures and policies for the Café. Ensure high standards of customer service, addressing customer enquiries and feedback. Be the welcoming face for all Café customers.
• Volunteer Management: Supervise a team of volunteers, retain existing and recruit/ train new volunteers. Manage volunteer schedules. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that is rewarding for each volunteer.
• Community Engagement: Engage, support and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders, including local community and special interest groups, and events hosted on premises. Implement initiatives to engage and support the local community.
• Financial Management: Monitor and manage the Café’s cashflow and finances. Track sales, set appropriate pricing, manage cash handling, and perform regular financial reporting.
• Collaborative Working: Work collaboratively with any co-manager to ensure consistency and continuity in cafe operations. Share responsibilities and cover shifts as required.
• Reporting to: governing board of Community Interest Company, a non-profit company.
Qualifications: Proven experience and success in a management role within a café or similar environment. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and people skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends. Passion for community engagement and volunteerism. Strong organisational and creative ability to overcome challenges as/when they arise. Local candidates are preferred
Hours: Part-time or full-time, with a requirement to work weekends, and share shifts with a co-manager. The Cafe aims to be open 9am to 3pm Tues-Thurs, Fri & Sat 9am to 4pm, Sun 9:30am to 1:30pm
