An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Assistant to work within the Pennine Lancashire Bladder and Bowel Team
The Bladder and Bowel Service provides a specialist nursing assessment, treatment and management service for those individuals experiencing bladder and bowel incontinence and chronic bladder and bowel conditions from the age of 4 years old.
The service works closely with other community nursing disciplines and nursing and residential care homes in providing assessment and treatment for children and adults. The service works with Urology, Urogynaecology, Paediatrics, Colorectal Services and other health care professionals. The Bladder and Bowel Service is provided for the residents of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen who are registered with a local GP Practitioner.
The Bladder and Bowel Service comprises of skilled, professional clinical staff specialising in bladder and bowel conditions and are supported by a dedicated administration team
The role involves working alongside the qualified nursing staff in the delivery if health care to our communities. The postholder will work across both adult and paediatric care.
The service operates 5 days per week between Monday and Friday
To work under the supervision of the registered nurses and service manager, promoting privacy and dignity of patients whilst undertaking a range of clinical tasks to support patient care.
• • Undertake routine portable ultrasound bladder scanning and report on results
• Undertake accurate urinalysis and report on results
• Obtaining health information from patients to support the assessment process
• Support families and patients to carry out the self-care planned for them by registered nurses
• Assist patients and families in completion of record charts
• Assist patients and families to self-manage medications as directed by a registered nurses’ care plan
• Assist in selection and fitting of continence pads, sheaths and appliances for patients requiring containment products
• Undertake basic patient reviews by phone and handle telephone enquiries
• Undertake administrative duties relevant to the role
