Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant Location: Office-based (Surrey) with some flexibility for remote work Department: Finance Reporting To: Finance Director Overview: My Client is a fast-growing business in the food and beverage space, operating multiple sites and supported by an on-site production facility. They are currently undergoing a significant growth phase, with recent investment into production capacity and an expanding retail footprint. As part of this growth, they are establishing a more robust internal finance function and are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Assistant Management Accountant to join their team. Key Responsibilities: Help compile monthly financial reports, including key accounting entries and reconciliations. Support regular cash flow tracking and short-term forecasting. Collaborate with teams across various business locations to gather and verify financial data. Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking activities. Review tax-related documents and assist with submission preparation. Offer insights on financial results, highlighting trends and variances. Maintain financial accuracy across ledgers and ensure robust control measures are followed. Assist in system improvements and documentation of financial processes. Provide support during audits and help prepare required documentation. Partner with bookkeeping staff to manage transactional-level queries and monthly closings. Take on project-based analysis and support the Finance Director with ad hoc tasks. What We're Looking For: Some level of accounting training or qualification (e.g., AAT, accounting degree, or part-qualified CIMA/ACCA). Prior experience (1–2 years) in a financial support role, ideally in a setting with multiple locations or business units. Familiarity with management accounts and general accounting principles. Competency in spreadsheet tools (especially Excel) and accounting platforms (ideally Xero). Strong attention to detail, with solid numeracy and analytical abilities. Good communicator who’s confident working with operational and non-financial colleagues. Organised, self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities. Desirable If You Have: Experience in fast-paced industries such as hospitality, retail, or beverage production. An understanding of inventory and margin-related finance practices. For this role, My client is offering a salary up to £35K Basic with an attractive benefits package.
