This is an exciting opportunity for both newly qualified and experienced paediatric staff nurses, to join our well-established team. We currently have full time permanent post and will consider applications from Adult Nurses with an interest in Paediatrics.
Main duties of the job
There are few things more rewarding than working with children, particularly when you know you are making a difference to their future. Dolphin and Lion is a 44-bed acute paediatric ward with a designated High Dependency Unit and designated Oncology beds. The unit cares for children and young people 0-16 years of age with a variety of medical, surgical conditions including ENT, orthopaedic and shared care oncology. Our purpose built ward offers family-centered care and a pleasant supportive learning environment. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, enthusiasm to progress and a highly motivated team player. We can offer commitment to your personal and professional development and offer a comprehensive preceptorship package. We also have the advantage of a ward-based Practice Educator who works closely with all staff to promote learning opportunities. In addition, we also offer external development with opportunities to participate in academic modules relating to Mentorship, Care of the Critically Ill Child (HDU) and Chemotherapy Administration. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to work at times in our other Paediatric services which includes Paediatrics ED and Neonatal Unit.

Job responsibilities
Participates in Clinical Governance to maintain and improve standards of patient care. Work as a role model in placing the patients experience at the core of service delivery. Assist in the monitoring and auditing of the quality of care through a range of strategies, including risk management incident reporting, complaints, research and effectiveness monitoring and clinical audit. Ensure own actions promote quality and alert others to quality issues. Contributes to the development of the service.Demonstrates commitment to the vision and objectives of the clinical area. Work with Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse to effectively managing the allocated financial resources within allocated budget. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of ensuring effective skill mix andappropriate caseload management at all times.Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of the health, safety and security of self and others in work area. Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Child) or studying towards a recognised nursing degree in childrens nursing
Experience
* Experience in a paediatric ward
* Experience in a care environment dealing with children
