As an Education Welfare Officer, you will be responsible for addressing and promoting the welfare of children and young people within the educational setting. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that students have access to a supportive environment, facilitating attendance, and addressing any barriers to learning. You will work collaboratively with schools, parents, and external agencies to implement strategies that improve student engagement and achievement. Additionally, you will provide guidance and support to families in navigating educational challenges, ensuring that children receive the care and services they need. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing programs that foster positive behavioral changes and academic success. Responsibilities
Monitor student attendance and punctuality and intervene when necessary to improve attendance rates.
Conduct home visits to assess students' home environment and offer support to families in need.
Develop and implement strategies to promote student engagement and reduce barriers to education.
Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to create individualized support plans for students.
Organize and conduct workshops and training sessions for parents on issues related to attendance and welfare.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student welfare cases and interventions.
Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to the development of integrated service responses for young people.
Advise schools on policies and practices related to student welfare and champion the importance of a positive school experience.
Requirements
A degree in education, social work, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience in a relevant area.
Experience working with children and families, particularly in an educational or welfare setting.
Strong understanding of child development and issues affecting young people's learning and welfare.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, and professionals.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing records and reports.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Hours Per Week: 35.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £20.74
