You will assist our Research and Development (R&D) department in developing refurbishment solutions for mechanical, hydro-mechanical, electrical and electronic wind turbine parts, to reduce waste, improve part availability and provide a more sustainable supply chain for the wind industry.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Product Development Assistant will assist with all aspects of the product development process, including initial business case assessments, disassembly and inspection of defective parts, development and testing of remanufacture/refurbishment solutions, and completion of project close-out deliverables for handover to Production.
Key responsibilities:
* Assisting with building business cases for product refurbishment and remanufacture, including assessment of costs and risk
* Assisting with developing technical solutions for product refurbishment and remanufacture, including:
o Disassembly, inspection, problem solving and failure investigation
o Development of bills of material (BOMs), work scopes and validation strategies
o Liaising with third party suppliers regarding remanufacture, refurbishment and manufacturing
o Reverse engineering of replacement components where necessary
o Writing technical reports and work instructions
* Liaising with other RPL departments throughout the product development process, including Sales, Sales Support, Procurement, Warehouse and Production
* Delivery of continuous improvement activities such as process improvements and quality investigations
* Adherence to the RPL Quality Management System
