Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Alternative Provision for students)

Salary: £23,874.09 - £26,765.42 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon-Thur: 08.00-16.00, Fri: 08.00-15.30)

The Role
They are looking to recruit an enthusiastic person to join their friendly and hardworking team as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant. This role involves providing alternative provision for disaffected students who need help overcoming barriers to learning, where behaviour/attendance issues are a concern.
The successful candidate will be required to teach small groups of KS3 and KS4 students and should have a specialism in English and/or Science, as well as the ability to teach other curriculum subjects.
You will be working under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo to:
1. Provide personalised, bespoke provision for pupils who are not on track to meet age expectations, including pupils with EAL.
2. Deliver high quality phonics and reading fluency provision.
3. Contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities with teaching staff to deliver high-quality educational provision.
4. Support the implementation of APDRs, behaviour plans, curriculum planning and assessment, providing detailed feedback to the teacher, parent or outside agency as needed.
5. Encourage and promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children.
6. Contribute to the wider life of the academy, including after school educational provision.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Skilful in working with children in all year groups to support their learning and progress.
2. Confident, resilient, patient, and nurturing, with a desire to help pupils thrive.
3. Demonstrates excellent classroom practice with high standards of teaching and learning.
4. Able to act on their own initiative.
5. Qualified to NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants/HLTA qualification or equivalent, or willing to work towards this qualification.
6. Good team player who contributes to the ethos and wider community of the academy.
7. Motivated, passionate, and reflective about their work.
8. Understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues.
