Job summary Applications are invited for a Post CCT Fellow in Cardiothoracic Radiology at the Royal United Hospital Bath. This is a fixed term post expected to start in Summer 2025, for a period of one year. The post offers experience in thoracic imaging and intervention, as well as cardiac CT and MR. The RUH Bath has a satellite tertiary pulmonary hypertension service working with the Royal Free, and the appointed candidate will gain experience in the imaging management of these patients. The thoracic imaging team also provides the imaging needs for interstitial lung disease patients seen at the RUH and adjoining Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. There will be the opportunity for protected time for academic work to participate in a number of ongoing cardiothoracic audit and research projects. This post is full time but anyone wishing to work part time is also encouraged to apply. The fellow will join the general SpR-level on-call rota (1700-2000 M-F; 0800-1800 Sa-Su) which runs in parallel to the consultant-tier rota, with the consultant on-call on-site. Main duties of the job This is a fixed term post for a period of one year. The job plan will be based around 7-8 sessions of cardiothoracic reporting, intervention and MDTs, 1 general/acute reporting sessions (rotating between GP plain film, hot reporting and general/acute CT/US), with 1 session protected for audit and research work as desired. Participation in the general SpR-level on-call rota is expected. Lung cancer: The fellow will work under the supervision of 5 Consultants with Thoracic subspecialty interest to help deliver the fast track cancer diagnosis service. ILD: There will be significant exposure to interstitial lung disease with opportunity to participate in the weekly ILD MDT. Pulmonary hypertension: The fellow will be involved in reporting CT and MRI for patients with suspected pulmonary hypertension and participating in the weekly PH MDT. Cardiac CT: The fellow will work under the supervision of 6 Consultant Radiologists who perform cardiac CT. Cardiac MRI: The fellow would have the opportunity to learn how to acquire CMR scans and will work under the supervision of the 3 Consultant Radiologists and 1 Consultant Cardiologist, all of whom are Level 3 accredited in CMR. Research opportunities: There is a growing research portfolio within the Radiology department and the RUH is a partner in the National Consortium of Intelligent Medical Imaging, working with industry partners to develop AI in Radiology.
