Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in managing accounts payable and other accounting functions. This position requires previous experience, strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
Responsibilities
* Assist in processing accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification and payment processing.
* Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently to maintain up-to-date financial records.
* Support month-end closing activities by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure timely resolution of discrepancies or issues related to accounts.
* Maintain organised files for financial documents, ensuring easy retrieval when needed.
* Utilise accounting software such as QuickBooks to manage financial data effectively.
* Provide support for internal audits by preparing requested documentation and assisting auditors as needed.
* Assist with general administrative tasks within the finance department as required.
* Monthly reconciliation for supplier accounts and approving purchase orders for payment.
* Providing feedback to management teams to review credit terms and supplier relationships.
* Assist in debt collection and account consolidation.
* Preparing payrolls and remittance data to ensure that staff are paid on a weekly/monthly basis.
Requirements
* Proven experience in an accounts assistant role or similar position within the financial services sector is required.
* Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks is highly desirable.
* Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Familiarity with accounts payable processes and financial reporting is advantageous.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members and stakeholders.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
