This role is crucial for maintaining a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and supporting the overall business strategy. The HR Manager develops, implements, and administers policies and procedures relating to all areas of human resources, including employee relations, recruitment, training, performance management, compensation and benefits, and Health, Safety, and Environmental activities. Additionally, the HR Manager trains managers and supervisors in areas of leadership and progressive management and ensures that the Human Resources department provides prompt, courteous, and efficient service to employees. The HR Manager directs and coordinates a team of Human Resource professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement HR strategies that are aligned with the overall business strategy.
2. Provide comprehensive HR services to all employees, ensuring effective communication and strong working relationships throughout the organization.
3. Ensure reasonable availability to all shifts, maintaining an open-door policy and being accessible to address any HR issues or concerns from employees.
4. Interpret and administer HR policies and procedures for all employees.
5. Ensure compliance with the principles of the Employee’s Charter and the Employment Standards Act.
6. Oversee the full cycle of the recruitment process.
7. Ensure that new hire orientations and benefits orientations are conducted appropriately.
8. Administer applicable sections of QS-9000 / TS16949 and ISO14001 standards.
9. Ensure proper maintenance of employee files.
10. Exhibit discretion and treat all sensitive information with confidentiality.
11. Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings.
12. Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system.
13. Administer the company's compensation and benefits programs.
14. Identify training needs and develop and implement training programs.
15. Prepare and present HR-related information for operations and management review.
16. Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
17. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by direct manager.
Minimum Requirements:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. CHRP designation is an asset.
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in the manufacturing or automotive industry.
* Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Familiarity with PeopleSoft HRIS is an asset.
* Sound knowledge of Provincial legislation including ESA, WSIB, OHSA, OHRC, etc.
